our fourth of july was so nice that i really want to share it, even if i’m a month late on this one…
we spent the fourth in my hometown – wyomissing, pa. every year they have a big parade, complete with vintage cars, kids on bikes and various polka bands riding on floats. the parade ends at a big lawn party down by the old stone house in the park where children hunt for ducks in the creek, old friends catch up, and the borough reps announce the winners of the house and block decoration contest.
American flags abound.
last year theo was so little and scared by anything big and noisy.
it was different this year.
he stood on the curb waving at the vintage cars, dancing to the polka bands, and clapping for the fire truck’s honking horn.
there was no fear on this little man’s face, just excitement and awe.
i know that next year i can expect the same parade of waving flags, marching bands, and homemade floats. what is unknown, however, is what new things are to come in this little man’s life.
i guess we’ll just have to see.
